Helping small business owners, virtual assistants, and creative entrepreneurs grow their business.
Hi, I'm Tara! I'm a multi-passionate business and marketing coach.
Working with wedding photographers as a virtual assistant is one of my absolutely favorite niches to work in. First of all, the wedding images? Can we say dreamy! I’ve always loved weddings, and through my business and learning photography a bit for product photos, I gained a respect for photographers and how creative they are.
Sometimes I’ve heard that wedding photographers aren’t sure how exactly a virtual assistant can help them. So, I thought I would write out a list to get you brainstorming on what a virtual assistant can do for you.
The top one on the list and the one most often outsourced first because let’s face it, social media can be a time suck, right?
Wedding photographers are a little different because they usually don’t need a lot of content, in terms of graphic design, created for them. They mostly need a posting strategy, well-written captions, hashtag research, and engagement. Your photos will do most of the work themselves!
The other stuff, though, especially engagement to grow your social media following and booking more brides (both for destination weddings or for local events) is very important. It takes quite a bit of time but can easily be outsourced to a virtual assistant who offers social media management services).
Wouldn’t it be nice not to be scrolling Instagram for hours every day?
Pinterest is huge for wedding photographers! So many brides and wedding industry experts use Pinterest to plan their website content or their wedding day. The potential for growth on Pinterest and to increase your bookings is massive.
If you don’t currently have a Pinterest strategy, you really are missing out.
Keep in mind that Pinterest is not a social media platform. It is a visual search engine, so you will need someone who specializes in Pinterest Management to really grow your account and website traffic correctly.
Wouldn’t it be nice to have brides come to YOU? No more marketing, endlessly scrolling social media, searching wedding forums, and local Facebook groups. With a beautifully designed and well-optimized website, you can have brides finding you consistently organically through Google search.
If you are behind on posting your weddings or sessions as blog posts on your website, you can have a virtual assistant do that for you! Why is a blog important?
Having trouble managing your email inbox or keeping clients information in order? This is generally one of the first tasks that general virtual assistants will learn to do and is something that you can easily hand off to someone else. One less thing on your very busy plate!
If you struggle with managing your time or client meetings, handing off your calendar management is definitely a good way for someone else to keep you on track. Being booked out as a photographer is fantastic, but you don’t want to be over-booked, right? That’s an excellent way to lose at your work-life balance goals and relationships.
A good chunk of a photographer’s time goes into editing those gorgeous images, but it can be outsourced! You have your own style, and nobody can recreate it, but you can. You can easily create a standard set of actions to allow someone else to edit your images easily but stick to your known editing style.
Alternatively, you could also have a virtual assistant to review all the images from a wedding or session and do the culling of the photos before you editing.
A virtual assistant or project manager can handle pretty much any admin tasks, data entry tasks, and organization tasks to help you improve your workflows and client work.
Even writing out snippet templates that you can use for your most repeated emails (i.e., session reminder tomorrow, wedding client welcome email, process email, etc.)
If you use Dubsado or HoneyBook, a virtual assistant who has experience with those systems can help you make sure they are set up correctly for your business and your specific needs, too.
Email marketing is still important, especially if you offer sessions other than weddings (because most wedding clients are one time clients otherwise, right?)
A virtual assistant can you write, design and setup email campaigns, automations, welcome series emails, complete sales funnels, etc.
I love the wedding industry, and I love working with wedding photographers. If you’d like to chat about how we can work together, please reach out and let’s discuss.
