You’ve likely heard the phrase ‘don’t put all your eggs in one basket’ at one time or another, and when it comes to selling online, it’s a good phrase to think about. Whether you are getting thousands of sales a month on Etsy, or if you aren’t getting the sales you would like, you need to be selling on Amazon Handmade, too.

Amazon is the number 1 online e-commerce company, and currently, 1 out of every 3 online sales are made on Amazon. With those statistics, why wouldn’t you want a piece of that pie for your handmade business?
I am focusing more on my virtual assistant and marketing business right now to help others, and my jewelry business has taken a back seat, but I am still selling thousands each month on Amazon Handmade and I’ve made over 6 figures each year since it launched in 2015. I can’t stress enough how the possibilities are endless with Amazon, and how it’s worth the time investment to give it a decent shot to work for you.
What would you do if Etsy shut down your shop tomorrow?
Even if you don’t think you are doing anything wrong, Etsy, as well as Amazon, can shut down your shop at any time for any reason they’d like. If you wait until that time comes to jump onto Amazon Handmade, you will be frustrated, overwhelmed and it likely won’t work as quickly as it could for you if you jump into opening an Amazon Handmade shop now.
If you want to increase your sales and expand your business, Amazon Handmade is the best choice to do that right now.
You feel that selling on Amazon is scary and overwhelming.
I get it, a lot of sellers I’ve spoken to and encouraged to try out Amazon Handmade, fear is their main reason for not doing it yet. Amazon can be overwhelming, especially if you’re coming from Etsy. Seller Central itself as a seller dashboard is overwhelming on its own, but don’t let fear control your business growth. You have nothing to lose except your time right now to give Amazon Handmade a try!
If you want to give yourself a good start, I’ve created a full Amazon Handmade course (formerly an e-book) that has helped hundreds of sellers make the jump into Amazon Handmade, and covers everything you need to know like setting up your account, the policies and procedures, SEO, advertising campaigns, selling on FBA (fulfillment by Amazon), handling returns, and so much more. This course and the Facebook group included will provide you with everything you need to feel confident in getting started.
My handmade items won’t compare with marketplace items being sold for $5.
This is a real concern most handmade sellers have that might deter them from trying Amazon Handmade. Honestly, this was my main concern too when I first applied and joined Amazon Handmade. My jewelry sells for $35-$120 and how could I compete with non-handmade jewelry that is selling on Amazon for a fraction of the cost? Take that thought and throw it away! The Amazon customer base is so huge that there is a target market there for everyone. A huge portion of Amazon customers are happy to pay for handmade and quality products, if they weren’t, there is no way I would have sold over 6 figures every year since 2015!
Your handmade items are on another level, so don’t even think that you need to compete or compare yourself with non-handmade items on the site.
