Have you been trying to figure out how to load up your client list, but not having any luck doing the #JOBOPPS that show up in the Facebook Groups you are in. With so many in these groups, unless you are a true #Unicorn (more about this another day), it can be hard to shine to new clients in a basic google form.

When it comes to marketing yourself, it doesn’t have to be a series of Google or Facebook ads, it can be as simple as being yourself.
So let’s cover a few different ways to shine and get more clients without getting lost in the Facebook Groups.
Connections are key
When I say connections are key, I mean that doesn’t include the #JOBOPPS as mentioned before. It means taking the time to connect with others online or in physical networking opportunities. At the end of the day, you selling yourself more than anything. By just taking as little as 30 minutes a day and engaging online or in email, this can make all the difference in being top of mind.
You could just open up a conversation on a thread on social media, you could reach out to a connection that you haven’t spoken to in a while just to check in on how they are doing. Just being genuine helps to keep you top of mind, even if the person you are reaching out to doesn’t need your services, they might know someone to refer to you.
Brings us to Referral lists and Perks
Have you ever considered letting your friends, colleagues know that you have a referral program? IF they are a person who is well connected, that could potentially share some names with you. But how do you return this favor, when maybe, it isn’t in your best interest or appropriate to share names back.
What about a referral program like, for each contract 30 days complete, and renews into a new month – a card to a favorite coffee shop or a 10% commission as a thank you for the referral. To do this, you could also create an easy image that your referral partner could share with those who are interested in that has your website and contact information.
They could do the same if you happen to be able to share a business as well – this can be a reciprocal business to be sure for some residual income.

Volunteering your services in the community – to a business in need
There is something also to be said to dedicate a few hours a month to a non-for-profit and helping them in some way – be it in their social media, volunteering at an event or sharing your knowledge with kids that features a charity in mind.
Not only is this great for you, personally, by giving back to the community – but the connections made here too could open up new doors for new markets and interested parties.
So you have a list of ways to market yourself – how do you prepare for it without taking time away from your current client base.
Just like in the boy/girl scouts, it’s all about being prepared. Like I mentioned before, this could be having an image that your referrer could share. You could create an Opt-in Freebie opportunity for an email template to send along with a brief PDF about yourself and what you do + your abilities as a VA, Freelancer, etc. to your client. The email is for your current client and the PDF is for them to pass on to potential clients.
There is also a section you could add to your website called “Portfolio” and have that link on the ready to not only introduce yourself but to share some samples of what you are capable of.
As always, these are just a few ways to increase your reach, like in your blogs and podcasts, to get yourself in front of new audiences and to find new clients that will fill up your list and give you an opportunity to continue to learn and grow – as a business person and personally as well.
What do you think of these suggestions? Was there another way that worked for you? We would love to hear it!!
