Hi, I'm Tara! I'm a multi-passionate business and marketing coach.
Did you just start creating your website or blog and you are struggling to get your mission or details about your services into writing? Or are you trying to update your ‘About Me’ page but not sure where to start? Believe it or not, writing an ‘About Me’ page for yourself can be very challenging and it’s never easy to choose the right words that will help to get your message across. You want to write something you will be proud of and which will show how amazing you and your business are! This blog post will give you some tips on how to create engaging, professional and relevant ‘About Me’ page that can convert a reader to either a loyal fan of yours or a potential client.
About me page isn’t necessarily a place through which would readers usually find your website but once they are on it, it’s very likely that they will click on it and want to know more about you and your business! It’s a perfect opportunity for you to present your brand and show readers value of your blog. Before you start writing your ‘About Me’ page, write a few main points that you want to include and that can be useful for your readers. You need to show people why they should work with YOU or why to read YOUR blog! Moreover, make sure you have a clear picture of who is your blog or website aimed for. Only by knowing your target audience, you will be able to craft a great pitch about yourself and your business.
There are 4 main goals in writing your ‘About Me’ page and that’s telling who you are, what you do, how you got there and why they should read your blog!
Now, before you start writing, decide whether you want to write in the first or the third person and stay consistent throughout your writing. Writing in first person is usually used for the personal brands or blogs, and third person writing can be used for companies or businesses that offer products and services.
To grab readers’ attention, start with the eye-catching first few sentences that show value, so readers will want to continue reading. Keep it short but be creative, tell your story, introduce yourself and your business and be honest with your readers. Remember to include only the most important but also most relevant information and show readers how they can benefit from reading it. People will always be eager to know about how or why you started doing what you are doing and how it can help them, so make sure you cover these parts. Although, sometimes it might be better not to have ‘About Me’ page than having a bad one that doesn’t add any value to your readers. So think about the content you want to include because it’s super important!
Another important aspect of your page is to have a professional photo included, to break up the text but also to make it more personal! It increases readers’ trust, and it also presents you and your business. If your website is about a product or service, you can also include a logo of the company.

Last but not least, a very important step to include is a call to action! Many people forget to use this in their ‘About Me’ page, but it’s crucial to take advantage of it! You don’t want people to forget about you right after they finish reading what you and your business is about! You should invite readers to subscribe to your newsletter or to say hi on Facebook or Instagram. There are many ways to build and maintain a relationship with your readers, but you just have to give them options to choose from.
These were some tips on how to write and create an ‘About Me’ page, hope you found it helpful! The main aspects of the strong page are to know who your target audience is and what message you want to share with them. Talk about who you are, what you do, a story about how you got here and what value you bring to the readers.
Create an engaging, creative, honest and valuable content that will convert your readers to your clients or your biggest fans and let them see the face behind your business!
Lastly, by adding a call to action, you will captivate your readers and start building relationships. So go to check your ‘About Me’ page and let me know how you bring value to your readers!
