As we are counting down to the end of not only the year but the decade, one cannot help but reflect on what has been working and not working over the last year or so.

The biggest gift you can give yourself and your mindset as we move into the new year/decade is the gift of a Positive Mindset. Now, I realize that this sounds very WooWoo but there is a lot of truth behind it.
Let’s face it, it’s hard to stay in a foul mood when someone comes to you to tell you about a positive event that they just had. I.e. Going through the drive-thru for your morning coffee, having to rush due to issues getting out the door that morning, only to get to the window and find out the car ahead paid for your order as a pay it forward moment. That generosity is contagious!
To help us reframe our minds and become more positive individuals in 2020, why not try a few of these. They might seem a little out there, but don’t knock it until you try it.
Negative Self Talk to Positive Self Talk:
Let it start with you, instead of seeing the world as a cup half empty, why not change that on its head. Start off by rephrasing things in your mind – find the silver lining in the situation at hand. I.e. I don’t have anything good to wear … change it to “I’m so grateful to the ability to find an outfit that shows my confidence, and the choice I have to do so compared to others less fortunate”. It’s hard to keep being that “Mean Girl” if you turn it around and think about how lucky you are.
Affirmations: Not just WooWoo
There was a video that went viral recently, where a young mom gave her 4-year-old some affirmations to say every day on his way to school. They were “I am Good, I am Kind and I can do anything!!”… these simple words brought such a light to this little boy’s eyes and warmed the heart of everyone who saw it. By saying such simple things to yourself every day, not only are you reframing your Mindset but you are slowly giving yourself the confidence boost you need!
Surround yourself with those you want to attract:
Now this one sounds really WooWoo, but it is a straight forward thought. If you surround yourself with those who are negative all the time or toxic then you will continue to draw others and situations to you that are the same. If you find those who inspire you (be it on Social Media or in real life) you will, in turn, take the time to look at the world in a similar light and draw like-minded clients/customers/friends to you of a similar view. It helps re-enforce the work you have done to bring more positivity to your light. Plus, the added benefit is that if you are having a rough day, this group will rally around you to give you support and ways to work through the negative and see the silver lining.
Laughter is the best medicine.
My personal philosophy – even in the darkest of moments – is always finding the humor in the situation. Be it an injury, work issues or even things in the real world (which sometimes can feel so overwhelming), try to find a way to get more laughter in your life. Watching a comedy movie on Netflix – watching a comedian live – reading the funnies in the newspaper or just surround yourself with someone whose sense of humor always brings you back to the light. Laughter, regardless if it’s crass or not, is always the best medicine as it promotes the endorphins to light up your mind.
This is just the tip of the iceberg, it is up to you on what works. But by taking this time to change your mindset, it will have the best Return of Investment – your outlook will match the opportunities that you draw to your life. Let’s make this next decade the best in your life to date!
Wishing you and your families the very best in 2020! Let’s knock the next decade out of the park with reaching our goals and exceeding our expectations for the very best life!
